An Ancestral Art:
Artisans from the Fes and Safi regions make this pottery respecting the purest traditions. They employ the "double-firing" technique: first, they shape the clay and bake it for nearly six hours at 6 degrees in a traditional kiln, then they paint it and fire it again to achieve the characteristic bright colors.
Diversity of Styles:
The ceramics of the medina, which are produced mainly in Fes and Safi, are fine and sophisticated, taking up the motifs of Islamic art. On the other hand, rural ceramics from the south and north of Morocco reflect Berber art, with a simple and less colorful design, but equally decorative.
